Cruise Ports in the U.S. Virgin Islands

The USVI has three cruise ship piers across two islands — Havensight and Crown Bay on St. Thomas, and the Ann E. Abramson Pier in Frederiksted on St. Croix. St. Thomas consistently ranks among the busiest cruise ports in the Caribbean.

Havensight Pier — St. Thomas
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

The main cruise pier on St. Thomas, located in Havensight just east of Charlotte Amalie. Home to Havensight Mall with duty-free shopping, restaurants, and easy taxi access to beaches and downtown. The most active cruise terminal in the USVI.

Crown Bay Pier — St. Thomas
Sub Base, St. Thomas

St. Thomas's second cruise pier, located at Crown Bay Marina on the west side of the island. Also the departure point for the Water Island ferry. Crown Bay has its own small shopping and dining area at the marina.

Ann E. Abramson Pier — St. Croix
Frederiksted, St. Croix

The cruise pier on St. Croix is located in Frederiksted on the west coast. Ships dock right in town — passengers can walk off directly into Frederiksted's colorful historic waterfront. Taxis are available for island tours and the journey to Christiansted.

St. Croix is far less visited by cruise passengers than St. Thomas, which gives the island a quieter, more authentic feel on port days.

St. Thomas is uniquely positioned as a hub for Caribbean island hopping. From your cruise ship pier, you can take a taxi to a ferry terminal and spend the day on St. John, the BVI, or Water Island — and be back before sail-away.

The most popular cruise passenger day trip. Taxi to Red Hook (~20–25 min from Havensight), ferry to Cruz Bay (~20 min), then taxi to Trunk Bay or Cinnamon Bay. Allow 2+ hours on-island minimum.

A more adventurous day trip — taxi to Charlotte Amalie Blyden Terminal (~10 min from Havensight), ferry to Road Town, Tortola (~45 min). Passport required. Allow plenty of time for BVI customs and immigration on arrival.

Water Island Day Trip
A short, easy day trip ideal for Crown Bay cruise passengers. The Water Island ferry departs from Crown Bay Marina — right next to the cruise pier. Honeymoon Beach is a 15-minute walk from the ferry dock. No passport needed.

⚠️ Always leave time to get back to your ship
Cruise ships will not wait for late passengers. Build in at least 90 minutes buffer before sail-away for any ferry day trip — more for BVI trips where customs can cause delays. Check sail-away time carefully and plan your return ferry accordingly.
