Parking at Cruz Bay is extremely limited. If you're leaving your car on St. John, plan to park well away from the ferry dock and walk or take a taxi. Day-trippers from St. Thomas should leave their vehicles in Red Hook and take the passenger ferry.
Passenger ferries run frequently between Cruz Bay and Red Hook all day long, with a less frequent service to Charlotte Amalie. No passport is required — both islands are U.S. territory.

Coral Bay on the east end of St. John does not have regular scheduled ferry service. All public ferry routes operate from Cruz Bay on the west end. From Coral Bay, you would need to take a taxi or drive to Cruz Bay to catch a ferry.
Parking at Cruz Bay is very limited and fills up quickly, especially on weekends and in high season. If you're a day-tripper from St. Thomas, leave your car at Red Hook and take the passenger ferry. If you need to park on St. John, arrive early and expect to park away from the dock and walk or take a taxi.
